Restaurant Jalpaan – Indian and Italian

Tonight we dined in Restaurant Jalpaan on the JLB road in Mysore. I read a review of this restaurant on a blog and I was in mood to eat some Italian food. The place was easy to find. When we reached the 2nd floor, the door opened to a pleasant ambience with soft lights and good furniture & curtains & delicate tiled walls. The waiters greet you right away to a table. When we went there were about 3-4 tables occupied but within 15-20 mins the whole place seemed to be full & busy.

They have a menu of mock tail drinks and Italian & Indian food menu.  We ordered Cyberian Sunset and Vergin Colada. The first drink was too sweet for me and I really preferred the other drink. It looked gorgeous though! As we went there to try Italian, we ordered Pasta for the main course. Two dishes – Vegetable Neapolitan with fettuccini and Penne Alfredo. The two dishes were complimenting each other in regard to taste with the Fettuccini being a little more flavorful than the creamy rich Penne. And a side of regular garlic bread made it a perfect Italian meal. What I remembered was the complimentary bread that is served with vinegar & olive oil in authentic Italian restaurants, in the US. I asked about it to the waiter, but he didn’t seem to know much about it. The portions were good enough.

The drink each cost 90/- ($2) and the main course 169/- each ($4); garlic bread 55/- ($1.25). The whole meal cost us 650/- ($15) including tax.
In the end I filled up a feedback card and mentioned steward interaction could be better. To which our waiter approached immediately to ask exactly what we noticed so they could improve on that. That was a good thing about their service. I would definitely go back again to try some Indian dish next time.
PS: Its a VEGETARIAN restaurant! :)
*Sorry, the pictures were taken half way through our meal :P
